Another game yielded another goal from Cristiano Ronaldo and moved him to within touching distance of the Premier League Golden Boot.

Cristiano Ronaldo has moved to within a single goal of first place in the Premier League Golden Boot race.

In only two Premier League games so far, Ronaldo has scored three goals. The Portuguese ace extended his tally at the weekend to help Manchester United beat West Ham 2-1 in London.

Ronaldo is level with nine other players, including Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku and Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood, in a joint-fourth place.

Mohamed Salah, meanwhile, has moved level with Golden Boot leaders Michail Antonio and Bruno Fernandes on four goals after finding the back of the net in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Paul Pogba didn’t get an assist this time, but the Manchester United midfielder is still in pole position for the Premier League’s Playmaker of the Year award.

The World Cup winner’s closest rivals are Michail Antonio (West Ham), Mateo Kovacic (Chelsea), Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City), and Abdoulaye Doucoure (Everton) on three assists.

What about the league standings?

While it’s still early days, Ronaldo surely has one eye on a fourth Premier League title. The Portuguese is a serial winner and will expect nothing less at Manchester United, who have started the season on a promising note.

The Red Devils are level on 13 points with league leaders Chelsea and Liverpool, who are ahead in the table thanks to a superior goal difference.

Elsewhere, Arsenal have pulled away from the relegation zone following a 1-0 win over Burnley at the weekend. Tottenham’s downward spiral continued with a second consecutive 3-0 defeat on Sunday, at the hands of Chelsea this time.
