A panel of six Premier League pundits have revealed their Player and Manager of the Season verdicts.

Michael Owen, Karen Carney, Matt Holland, Leon Osman, Darren Bent, and Don Hutchison have gathered to give their mid-season verdicts.

The six pundits have revealed on the Premier League website who they believe stands out. The season may only be 20 games in, but they have no doubts over their choices.

So, who will be crowned the best player of the season? And which manager will they deem their favorite from an enthralling 2023/24 so far?

🏃 Player of the Season

Mohamed Salah is the undisputed Player of the Season for the Premier League this season. This is what four of the six pundits think. The Liverpool man is level with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland as the league’s top-scorer with 14 goals. He has also given out eight assists.

  • Michael Owen: Salah
  • Karen Carney: Alexander Arnold
  • Matt Holland: Salah
  • Leon Osman: Salah
  • Darren Bent: Salah
  • Don Hutchison: Van Dijk

Salah’s Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander Arnold, meanwhile, gets Karen Carney’s vote for the Player of the Season. Former Reds midfielder Don Hutchison has sided with the club’s current captain Virgil van Dijk as his top pick.

🕴️ Manager of the Season

Five of the six pundits believe Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is the Manager of the Season. The only one who doesn’t is Karen Carney. The ex-Birmingham legend believes that Jurgen Klopp just pips Tottenham’s Postecoglou for the honor because of the way he has rebuilt Liverpool this season.

  • Michael Owen: Emery
  • Karen Carney: Klopp
  • Matt Holland: Emery
  • Leon Osman: Emery
  • Darren Bent: Emery
  • Don Hutchison: Emery

Aston Villa have been sensational since Emery arrived on November 1, 2022. They’ve won 28 out of their 45 Premier League games under the Spaniard, drawing seven and losing 10 times.

This season, the Villians rank second in the league table, having collected 13 victories out of 20 league matches (D3 L4). They lie only three points behind leaders Liverpool.
