Lucas insists he “will always be a Real Madrid man”, essentially dismissing the ongoing speculations about his Real Madrid future.
Capable of operating from multiple positions, Vazquez remains a key member of Zinedine Zidane’s squad, evident from the fact that he has featured in all but six of the La Liga champions’ league fixtures this term.
However, he is yet to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid despite being in the final three months of his current deal.
This has led to reports that the 29-year-old, who joined the club’s academy in 2007 and earned a promotion to the senior team eight years later, has no future at the Spanish capital.
Interest in the Spain international has been reported from England while Germany has also been suggested as a possible next destination for him.
“What I concentrate on is the present,” Vazquez said about his future, speaking after Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool on Tuesday, via Marca.
“I’m really enjoying myself this season because I’m playing and that’s what makes me happy.
“A contract extension? I was and will always be a Real Madrid man.
