A commanding center-back has been linked with leaving Germany as he approaches the final 12 months of his Gladbach contract.

Matthias Ginter is “very open” to staying at Borussia Monchengladbach amid reports linking him with a move to the Premier League.

Interest in Ginter has been reported from Chelsea, who are reportedly in the market for a new center-back as Thomas Tuchel looks to further bolster his backline.

Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan, meanwhile, are also said to be interested in acquiring the services of the commanding defender.

It has been reported that Monchengladbach are prepared to cash in on their prized asset this summer out of fear of losing him for free in the next one, with the player approaching the final 12 months of his contract at the Borussia Park.

“Basically everyone wants to play in Europe,” said Ginter, speaking to Sky Deutschland.

“But there are a few other criteria that play a role. That’s why we’ll see what happens with the coaching team.

“There have been no talks about it yet. I’m very, very open to staying here.”

Ginter has established himself as a strong and regular presence in the Gladbach backline ever since joining the club Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and has made over 130 appearances for them so far.
