Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has spoken on the chances of fans returning back to stadiums this season.
The Premier League remains hopeful that supporters will be allowed inside the stadiums before the end of the season, as per chief executive Richard Masters.
Top-flight matches continue to take place behind closed doors right now due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Just in December last year, some teams were able to welcome back a small number of fans for a few weeks.
However, all of that came to an abrupt end as England once again finds itself in a national lockdown in their battle to combat Covid-19.
Speaking at a football event on Thursday, Masters confirmed he would like to see grounds open for a smaller number of people before the conclusion of the season in May.
“I am confident (fans will return next season),” Masters said as quoted by The Athletic.
“No one can say because this pandemic has a way of surprising you but we haven’t lost hope we might see a few back this season.”
“Certainly next season I hope it opens up quickly, we can work with the government again, and get fans back into stadiums in real numbers.”
