According to a recent report, the Premier League clubs have made some demands to the ‘Big Six’ executives in regards to their future.

The so-called ‘ Big Six’ clubs just received a number of demands from the Premier League during the most recent meeting between clubs. What they did with the European Super League proposal is a step that tarnished the trust between all clubs. According to Sky Sports, Premier League chairman Richard Masters already took the first step to punish these clubs. In a meeting with these institutions, he demanded the resignation of top executives from their respective clubs.

He reportedly wants the head of Chelsea’s chairman, Bruce Buck. Masters also wants Vinai Venkatesham to step down from his role as Arsenal’s top executive. The same goes for Tom Werner at Liverpool and Ferran Soriano at Manchester City. Manchester United is a different story because Ed Woodward already announced he is stepping down from his position at the end of this season.

Will the owners step down as well?

This one is the ultimate dream that many of the ‘Big Six’ supporters have, but it’s way more difficult that many believe. We are talking about the majority stakeholders at each of these clubs, who would have to sell if they wanted to leave. Although pressure will keep them on their toes for a while, getting them to leave is almost impossible.

All the supporters can do is get the resignation of the top executives, but the owners won’t leave unless they want to. Also, they won’t give up on their idea to modify the sport so the model becomes more ‘America’ for their financial needs. This was only round one between these clubs and the supporters. A battle is lost but the war is only getting started.
