Man United were held to a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor by Sean Dyche’s Burnley who scored their first home goal against the Red Devils since the 2009-10 season.

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley on Tuesday night with Jay Rodriguez cancelling out Paul Pogba’s first half strike.

Pogba put the visitors ahead in the first half as United dominated the game but Sean Dyche’s men pulled a goal back minutes into the second half.

Ralf Rangnick decided to bench Cristiano Ronaldo and opted to start with Edinson Cavani. The interim boss claimed prior to kick off he did so because Cavani does “more sprinting than his teammate”.

The result means United drop out of the Champions League spots following West Ham’s win over Watford.

Speaking after the game, Rangnick said: “We scored three goals, and I thought especially the second one that was disallowed was wrong. This was a very soft decision.

“We played an excellent first half but we were not aggressive in the first 15 minutes of the second half. It was a very frustrating night. One point from a performance like this is not enough.”
