Kevin De Bruyne joins an elite group of players who have won the Premier League POTS more than once.

Premier League has selected Kevin De Bruyne as the Player of the Season for the 2021-22 campaign.

The Manchester City star beats Mohamed Salah as his closest rival, securing the prestigious prize for the second time in his career.

De Bruyne, who had first won the award two years ago, has spent another brilliant season at Man City.

The Belgian playmaker has been crucial to City’s Premier League run as they are on the verge of claiming the title.

De Bruyne becomes the first player since Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidic to win more than one POTS award. Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry are the only other players who have claimed the award twice.

“To win this award for a second time is an achievement that I am really proud of,” the midfielder told the club’s official website.

“There is so much quality in the Premier League and it is a pleasure to be nominated with so many other great players who have had incredible seasons for their clubs.

“I think my performances this season have been good and I am happy that I have been able to contribute with goals and assists throughout the season. Thank you to all of the staff, coaches and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible.”
