Arsenal tightened their grip on the fourth spot while Man City increased the gap at the top of the table.

Another matchday of Premier League action ended on Sunday as teams locked horns with their opponents over the weekend.

Ten matches took place across England, with the league’s top-four battle seeing some significant changes.

As we prepare for another exciting week of Premier League football, let’s review our main takeaways from Matchday 36.

Man City take a big step toward the league title

Manchester City crushed Newcastle 5-0, making a statement after their disappointing Champions League elimination by Real Madrid.

The Citizens went three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table after the Reds drew 1-1 against Tottenham.

With only three games to play, City are close to beating Liverpool in the title race. They must face Wolves, West Ham, and Aston Villa, while Liverpool will face Southampton and Wolves in their remaining matches.

Chelsea continue winless run after Wolves stalemate

Chelsea went into their game against Wolves on the back of a 1-0 defeat against Everton. The Blues went ahead 2-0 at Stamford Bridge before a late comeback from Wolves denied them the three points.

It was another underwhelming display from the Blues, putting their spot in danger. Thomas Tuchel’s side are now only one point ahead of Arsenal, who are on a four-game winning streak.

Before returning to the Premier League, Chelsea must face Liverpool in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Arsenal edge closer toward top-four finish

Arsenal claimed their fourth victory in a row by beating Leeds United 2-1 on home soil. The Gunners displayed yet another dominant performance, keeping the Peacock inside their own half for most of the game.

Mikel Arteta’s side increased their lead over fifth-placed Tottenham to four points as they took a huge step toward securing the Champions League qualification.

The two north-London sides will face off in a vital derby on Friday. Arsenal can seal their top-four finish by beating Tottenham while Spurs look to revive their UCL hopes.

Man Utd handed Conference League scare

Manchester United spent another miserable evening when they lost 4-0 against Brighton on Saturday. A poor defensive display combined with no intensity upfront handed the Red Devils their 11th defeat of the season.

For now, United stay sixth in the Premier League. However, they feel more pressure from West Ham, who stay three points behind them with a game at hand.

The Hammers also have a higher goal difference, increasing their chances of stealing United’s Europa League spot. The prospect of playing in the Conference League might affect the club’s much-awaited activities in the summer transfer window.

Let’s see if Cristiano Ronaldo and co can get back to winning ways in their last match of the season against Crystal Palace.

Everton jump out of relegation zone after back-to-back wins

Following an impressive win over Chelsea last week, Everton defeated Leicester City to leave the relegation zone. However, the Toffees are still far from being safe.

Burnley and Leeds United are level on 34 points, only one point behind Frank Lampard’s side. Leeds must face Chelsea on Wednesday while Burnley take on Tottenham next week.

Everton will prepare to meet Watford in their upcoming Premier League game. Let’s see if the Toffees can continue their winning streak against the already-relegated Hornets.
