Ace Football presents a detailed view of the fixtures played in the 27th gameweek of the Premier League campaign.

Another matchday of Premier League action ended on Sunday as teams locked horns with their opponents in the weekend.

Nine matches took place across England while the league postponed two games due to the Carabao Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool.

As we prepare for another exciting week of Premier League football, let’s review our main takeaways from Matchday 27.

Southampton 2-0 Norwich City

Norwich suffered their third defeat in a row as they struggled hard to get any goalscoring chances against Southampton. The Saints, on the other hand, seem to be enjoying a great form at the moment.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men remained undefeated for the sixth consecutive match, climbing up to ninth place on the table. Southampton will now prepare to face West Ham in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

Leeds United 0-4 Tottenham

Another heavy defeat made Marcelo Bielsa the only coach in the Premier League’s history to have conceded 20 goals in a month. The result persuaded the club to part ways with the Italian coach after four years.

On the other hand, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min displayed another brilliant performance for Spurs. It was enough to calm Antonio Conte down after his last week’s surprising rant. However, urged he, once again, urged his side for further improvement after the match.

Tottenham will now prepare to face Middlesbrough in their next FA Cup battle on Tuesday.

Brentford 0-2 Newcastle

Newcastle slipped to a 1-1 draw against West Ham last week, with observers linking their defensive problems to Kieran Trippier’s untimely injury.

However, this week they displayed another solid and balanced performance in the Premier League. The Magpies defeated Brentford while also leapfrogging them on the table.

Eddie Howe’s side now sit 14th in the league, four points clear of the relegation zone. His heavily recruited side will meet Brighton in their next league game while Brentford prepare to meet fellow relegation strugglers Norwich.

Crystal Palace 1-1 Burnley

Similar to their recent performances, Palace dominated the game but struggled to convert their chances this week.

The Eagles scored an early opener through their Ghanaian star Jeffrey Schlupp. However, Burnley clinched a draw through Luka Milivojevic’s own goal at the beginning of the second half.

It was another relatively successful game for the Clarets after their back to back wins in the recent matches. However, they could not secure a win to escape the relegation zone.

Burnley will face Leicester City in their next league game on Tuesday while the Eagles must prepare for an FA Cup battle with Stoke City.

Manchester United 0-0 Watford

United fans were so fed up with their wasteful attackers that they booed the Red Devils after the game. Ralf Rangnick’s side struggled again in front of the goal, missing a few outrageous chances against the Hornets.

On the other hand, Watford clinched an important draw in their bid to avoid relegation. They will now prepare to face Arsenal in their next league game on Sunday. United will meet Man City in the Manchester derby on the same day.

Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa

Aston Villa bounced back from their underwhelming run of three winless games against Brighton. Steven Gerrard’s side won both halves with similar 1-0 results while keeping the Seagulls under pressure.

Brighton managed to make only one shot on target as they seemed too clumsy in midfield. It was their third defeat in a row that sent them to tenth place on the table.

Graham Potter’s men will face Newcastle next week as they push to keep their top-half spot.

Everton 0-1 Manchester City

Manchester City refused to drop points as they continued their march toward the title. It was an important victory as it came after the Citizens’ home defeat against Tottenham last week.

Everton maintained their defensive discipline for most of the game. However, a slight miscalculation by Michael Kane was enough for Phil Foden to break the deadlock.

The Citizens will face Peterborough in FA Cup while Franck Lampard’s men must host Boreham Wood.

West Ham 1-0 Wolves

West Ham have not been able to completely recover from their sudden dip of form. However, a few solid defensive displays in recent weeks have revived their hopes for a top-four finish.

A narrow victory against Wolves brought the Hammers as close as one point to fourth-place United. On the other hand, Bruno Lage’s side displayed another underwhelming performance while suffering their fourth defeat in six games.

West Ham will prepare for an FA Cup match against Southampton on Wednesday. At Molineux, Wolves will host Palace in a Premier League game next Saturday.
