Arsenal ended Man United’s top-four dreams while Man City held on to the top spot.

Another matchday of Premier League action ended on Monday as teams locked horns with their opponents over the weekend.

Ten matches took place across England, with the league’s top-four battle seeing some major changes.

As we prepare for another exciting week of Premier League football, let’s review our main takeaways from Matchday 34.

The Gunners reclaim fourths spot after beating Man United

Arsenal defeated Manchester United 3-1 in the most anticipated game of the weekend. The Gunners build on their last week’s win over Chelsea to reach the fourth spot after another brilliant win.

The Red Devils looked much improved but fell short to Arsenal’s great firepower and a few (important) mistakes by the referee. Ralf Rangnick admitted United’s top-four dreams are over after the game, with his team now fighting for a Europa League spot.

Man United will have to battle it out with Chelsea in their next league game on Thursday. On the other hand, Arsenal will take on West Ham three days later.

City and Liverpool continue to be divided by one point

Liverpool won the Merseyside derby with a 2-0 win to continue chasing Manchester City at the top of the league table.

The Reds were well below average in the first half but managed to save the day with an attacking performance in the second period.

Their title rivals, Man City, also managed to win their game. The Citizens’ victory was, however, achieved way easier. Pep Guardiola’s side crushed Watford 5-1 while still keeping some of their best players on the bench.

The two sides will now have to compete in the Champions League semi-finals before returning to league action. Man City will take on Real Madrid on home soil while Liverpool face Villarreal.

Tottenham running out of ideas in the worst time

A brilliant run of results saw Tottenham climb all the way to fourth place on the table in early April. However, they are now struggling with a sudden dip in form that has prevented them from displaying the same attacking quality.

Following a 1-0 defeat against Brighton last week, Spurs fans expected a reaction from their team against Brentford. However, they ended the game with a goalless draw, failing to make a single shot on target.

If the Spurs fail to bounce back in their next weekend’s clash against Leicester City, they will most likely see Arsenal increasing their chances of a top-four finish.

Brilliant Newcastle go even higher on the table

Newcastle’s transformation from a relegation-battling side to a team in the top half of the table has been incredibly quick. The Magpies have now reached ninth place on the table after an impressive run of four consecutive wins.

Their last victim was Norwich City, who suffered a 3-0 defeat on home soil on Saturday. Joelinton scored twice for the guests while Bruno Guimaraes, once again, added his name to the scoreline.

Newcastle will now have to prepare to face Liverpool and Man City in their next two games. Let’s see if the Magpies can affect the title race by claiming points against the league’s front-runners.

Everton officially fighting relegation as Burnley jump out of danger zone

Burnley have remained surprisingly stable after Sean Dyche’s sacking. The Clarets are now on a run of three unbeaten games, with a brilliant 1-0 win over Wolves being their latest crucial step toward escaping the relegation.

Burnley’s success has, however, come at the worst possible time for Everton. Frank Lampard’s out-of-form side lost the Merseyside derby with a 2-0 result last week, slipping to 18th place on the league table.

The Toffees are now two points behind Burnley as they prepare to face Chelsea in another difficult game on Sunday.
