Man City and Liverpool clashed for the league’s top spot while the nail-biting race for the top four continued.

Another matchday of Premier League action ended on Sunday as teams locked horns with their opponents in the weekend.

Ten matches took place across England, with the league’s top-four battle seeing some major changes.

As we prepare for another exciting week of Premier League football, let’s review our main takeaways from Matchday 32.

Liverpool 2-2 Man City: Citizens hold on to top-spot but Liverpool pressure continues

The most crucial game of the weekend saw Liverpool and Man City draw 2-2 at the Etihad Stadium. The game lived up to the anticipation that preceded it, entertaining Premier League fans with 90 minutes of exciting attacking football.

Liverpool were quite lucky that they escaped Etihad with a point as City remained dominant throughout the game. The Reds were unable to leapfrog Pep Guardiola’s side from the top of the table. However, they still managed to keep the title race close, with City being only a point ahead of them.

The two sides will meet again on Saturday in the FA Cup semi-finals before continuing their respective Premier League campaigns. Man City will host Brighton while Liverpool face arch-rivals Manchester United at Anfield.

Southampton 6-0 Chelsea: Blues return to winning ways in style after Brentford upset

The Blues suffered a shocking 4-1 defeat against Brentford in their first league game after the international break. However, they managed to bounce back with a dismantling 6-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.

Timo Werner and Mason Mount both scored braces, while Kai Havertz and Marcos Alonso also found the back of the net at Saint Mary’s.

The Blues went to their Champions League game against Real Madrid with great momentum but could not complete their comeback against the Blancos. Next up for Thomas Tuchel’s side is an FA Cup battle with Crystal Palace on Sunday. Chelsea will then host Arsenal in the North West London derby on Wednesday.

Tottenham 4-0 Aston Villa: Spurs show no signs of slowing down in pursuing top-four dream

Tottenham are by far the most in-form team in the Premier League at the moment. The Spurs have taken the English top-flight by storm in recent weeks, enjoying a four-match winning streak.

Antonio Conte’s side had scored 12 goals in their last four games prior to their clash against Aston Villa on Saturday. They went on to add another four goals to their tally while keeping a clean sheet at Villa Park.

Son Heung-Min scored a brilliant hat-trick for Tottenham as they went three points ahead of their closest top-four rivals, Arsenal. Conte’s team are now five points behind the third-placed Chelsea, waiting to continue their league campaign with a match against Brighton this weekend.

Everton 1-0 Man United: Red Devils show magnitude of Ten Hag’s duty in Everton defeat

Man United failed to win for the third game in a row in all competitions, remaining in seventh place on the league table. The Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat against relegation-battling Everton as they displayed yet another disappointing performance in their front lines.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Ralf Rangnick’s starting XI, but even his presence was not enough to lead United to victory at Goodison Park. United now see their top-four dreams drifting further away as they slip six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.

Ronaldo and co will meet Norwich City on Saturday in a bid to end their two-game winless run in the league.

Norwich 2-0 Burnley: Canaries win first Premier League game since January

A crucial bottom-of-the-table battle saw Norwich beat 18th-placed Burnley 2-0 on home soil. It was an impressive victory for the Canaries, who had not won a Premier League game since beating Watford on January 21.

Dean Smith’s side are still stuck at the rock-bottom of the league table. However, their seven-point gap to 17th-place Everton might give them enough motivation to push for a late escape from the relegation zone.

Next up for Norwich is a clash against Man United at Old Trafford. Let’s see if the Canaries can use their opponents’ poor form to their advantage on Saturday.
