During an interview in his new adventure in Germany, a Portuguese prospect vowed to become the next Cristiano Ronaldo for his country.

There are many Portuguese prospects who grew up watching Cristiano Ronaldo and always aimed to emulate his career. We can name players like Joao Felix, Bruno Fernandes, Gonçalo Guedes, or Trincao. But there’s one player who initially seemed like a possible heir to the throne when he started his career.

We are talking about Andre Silva, the striker who recently arrived in Germany to play for Eintracht Frankfurt. The forward hasn’t been that fortunate during his career and he is already 24 years old. However, his journey in German football has been quite successful so far as he aims to return to an elite level. Certainly, having Cristiano Ronaldo as an inspiration is a great deal of motivation.

Silva idolized Ronaldo since his Man United days.

“My big idol? It was Cristiano because in my time he was already at [Manchester] United, and he was the star in Portugal,” said Silva on the Bundesliga’s official website.

“I mean, I don’t live the same life as him, I can say for sure! “But I imagine from what I see that it’s difficult because he’s a big idol, everyone knows him, everyone wants something from him.

“But I mean, my way, it will be good if I achieve the same as Cristiano because he has done a lot and he still does it now. But I think my way is different, and I’m focused on my way, and Cristiano has his own way.”

When asked if he could reach Ronaldo’s level, he added: “Yeah, of course. “If it’s possible to achieve the same as him, I’ll sign right now and say I want this.

“It’ll be difficult to achieve the same as him, it needs a lot of work and discipline, but everyone is different.

“It’s hard to tell what will happen to me. I have dreams, I have my own goals, and I will try my best in my way, and I think that’s the most important thing.”
