Puskas Arena in Budapest was the place where Portugal played an electrifying Euro 2020 match against France. We have the player ratings.

The Portugal National Team had a tremendous match against France in the Group of Death’s most attractive match. We simultaneously had this game and Hungary against Germany at Allianz Arena in Munchen. But the two teams in Budapest today were the ones that truly mattered. We previously told you how Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty that allowed him to get a goal shy of an all-time record. Hugo Lloris committed a stupid foul on Danilo that gave Portugal the first goal of the evening.

Just before the break, Kylian Mbappe was taken down inside the box and Mateu Lahoz gave France a penalty. If you told us we would have a chance to enjoy a Portugal vs France match where Ronaldo and Benzema scored goals. I wouldn’t have believed you. But Karim was also given the chance to equalize the game through the spot and he didn’t miss. He truly needed that goal in order to feel he was really back to represent his country. But the best was still saved for the second half.

Ronaldo becomes eternal.

After the break, both sides were still willing to make an effort to entertain everybody at Puskas Arena. Karim Benzema received a brilliant assist to Benzema for France’s second goal of the evening. Not long after that, Ronaldo finally got his chance to make history after Jules Kounde committed a handball inside the box. Cristiano didn’t even break a sweat as he scored his 109th international goal for Portugal. Making him the all-time top scorer for any country alongside Iran’s Ali Daei.

With this result, Germany needed to not lose in order to qualify to the next round and they came dangerously close. However, Kai Kavertz appeared again to score a 2-2 equalizer against Hungary and give Germany the second spot of the group. In the final minutes, you could tell both sides were happy with this result as all the major teams were qualified. The Round of 16 will give us the following matches that will start on Saturday.
