An easy win over Czech Republic was enough for Cristiano Ronaldo and co to leapfrog Spain from the top of the Group A2 table.
Portugal defeated Czech Republic 2-0 in their UEFA Nations League match on Thursday. Bernardo Silva provided two assists in six minutes to help his side win their third game in the tournament.
A one-sided match!
Portugal took full control of the possession as soon as the game started. Czech Republic retreated to their own half, hoping to survive the hosts’ relentless attacks.
Following several missed chances, Bernardo Silva provided an assist for his teammate, Joao Cancelo, who broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute.
Only six minutes later, another Silva assist led to Portugal’s second goal. This time, it was Goncalo Guedes who found the back of the net for the hosts.
Portugal did not allow the guests to make serious chances after the interval. However, they weren’t also able to convert their own opportunities to extend their lead.
The victory sends Portugal to the top of the Group A2 table. Fernando Santos’ men sit above Spain, who have collected five points from their first three games.
