Do Dragao Stadium was the place where Chelsea visited Porto in another Champions League quarter-final. We got the player ratings.

Despite their defensive predilections, Chelsea still managed to get a fantastic result against Porto at Do Dragao Stadium. Under Thomas Tuchel, the Blues can at least brag about their solid defensive capabilities. Edouard Mendy got another clean sheet out of this very important match and his defenders were always on point. Porto attempted to score several times but their strikers are clearly below an elite level for Chelsea’s defenders.

On the other side of the pitch, Tuchel’s side also did their homework and got to score one goal in each half. Mason Mount scored the opener with a crossed finish after a brilliant Jorginho assist from the deep. With a 0-1 result, both sides got 15 minutes to rest before the second half. Tuchel seemed satisfied right before the break, he knows he has one of the most balanced rosters in European football.

Chilwell profits from Porto’s mistake.

In the second half, the Blues were still solid on the defense despite Porto’s many attempts to find the back of the net. Thomas Tuchel was more active than ever with several commands towards his players in the back. On the downside, Timo Werner still can’t find his ideal form but Chelsea’s supporters should remain patient with him. The talent is there, the only problem is that the German striker is going through a terrible moment.

But the rest of the squad is doing pretty well. They managed to get the second goal with five minutes left on the clock after a defensive mistake from Porto. Jesus Corona made a terrible defensive decision that granted Ben Chilwell a golden opportunity in front of the goal. It is a 0-2 away victory that pretty much gives Chelsea the semifinals’ ticket.
