Antonio Conte shared his delight at seeing his Inter side claim a hard-fought victory against Napoli on Wednesday night.

Inter got the three points thanks to a Romelu Lukaku penalty, but Napoli largely dominated the game even when down to 10 men after Lorenzo Insigne saw red for dissent.

Prior to the game, Conte spoke about his side going out for three points against their rivals.

Despite a not so convincing performance, the Nerazzurri claimed the all-important win, and the Italian manager claimed that was all that mattered.

“A win like this one can do well, that’s what I told the boys,” Conte told Sky Sport after the game.

“It was not easy. Napoli are a great team. It was a tactical match, with great respect on both sides.”

“It was not a great game, but these are important points against an ambitious team like Napoli, always the protagonist of our championship, these points and are worth double.”

With the win, Inter are up to 27 points and second place, just one point behind leaders AC Milan.

Up next for Conte and company is another home game against Spezia in Serie A at the weekend.
