For all of the quality Paul Pogba boasts, Danny Murphy believes the Manchester United man will not start for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.

On paper, Manchester United have one of the best midfield names in the Premier League. The trio of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Donny Van de Beek are all star names in their own regard.

But the same above reason leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a problem. It would be a difficult task to play all of the aforementioned players all at once.

United’s recent victory over Brighton explained it all as Van de Beek could only wait until the 90th minute to come in. Pogba and Fernandes were the entrusted duo in midfield.

Should the Frenchman choose top leave United, he would surely have lots of suitors but Danny Murphy believes Liverpool won’t be one of the. His reason being that Jurgen Klopp won’t accept a player who doesn’t track back.

Murphy told talkSPORT: “Because Pogba has got everything, he could defend better than he does but he doesn’t for some reason. I don’t know if that’s because of the lack of consequence for not defending.”

“I don’t think Pogba would get into Klopp’s midfield.”

“He might if he was going to work as hard as he was supposed to but I think the likes of Klopp won’t put up with his midfielders not defending like that.”

Murphy also added that Solskjaer might have to make a difficult choice to get the most out of his midfield.

Either Pogba or Fernandes will have to vacate their position in the starting XI.

He added: “Pogba and Fernandes in the same team makes them too offensive. Against a better opposition, you’ll get found out. They’re both brilliant technicians and creative footballers.”

“:Their defensive mindset is reactive, not proactive. They don’t spot danger. They react afterwards. They see it and think, ‘I better get back’. It’s not natural for them.”
