The Blues have failed to score in their last three games, suffering two defeats in the process. So, how does Pochettino plan to solve this goal-scoring puzzle?
Mauricio Pochettino believes the solution to Chelsea’s goal woes lies in hard work, trusting his players, and boosting their confidence levels.
Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa extended Chelsea’s goalless streak to three games. The Blues have struggled all season, winning one of their first six Premier League matches (D2 L3). They’ve scored five times in this run, averaging 0.8 goals a game.
Yet, Pochettino remains optimistic about finding a solution to Chelsea’s scoring woes. He outlined his plan to rectify the situation in a recent press conference.
“Work. Giving trust and then confidence,” the Chelsea manager said.
“We have the squad that we have. We cannot change anything. We try to build the confidence and to give them all of the support that they need because they need to perform on the pitch.”
Chelsea, who sit down in 14th in the Premier League table, return to action on Wednesday. They’ll play Brighton in a third-round Carabao Cup fixture at Stamford Bridge.
