The transfer deadline day is fast approaching, and according to Mauricio Pochettino, there could be more excitement in store for Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed the club is trying to bring in more signings before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Rumors are swirling that Chelsea have an eye on none other than Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe as a potential addition to their attacking line-up.

“I know the club is working hard to finish our business,” Pochettino said at a press conference on Tuesday prior to Chelsea’s second-round Carabao Cup game against AFC Wimbledon.

“Can something happen? Maybe, yes.

“At the moment I am only working and trying to deliver what we want. But there is nothing to communicate at the moment.”

According to The Times, Arsenal are allegedly open to selling Smith Rowe. The Gunners want to raise funds to comply with Financial Fair Play. They’re looking for a fee of around £40 million. Several unnamed Premier League clubs have been approached.

Smith Rowe has been with Arsenal since 2010. The attacking midfielder broke into the first team in 2020. He signed a new five-year deal in 2021. But following a groin problem at the start of last season, he underwent surgery and missed the first half of the 2022/23 campaign.

Smith Rowe returned to the squad in January, but he has failed to start a single league game ever since. In fact, in 2023/24, he has remained on the bench in all three of Arsenal’s Premier League games.

So, with Chelsea’s interest in him, could Smith Rowe be making a move to the Blues before the transfer window shuts? All eyes are on the Premier League as deadline day approaches.
