Pep Guardiola’s men ran away with the league title last time out in spite of having a slow start to the campaign.

Premier League teams would find it very difficult to “get near” Manchester City next season if they add Harry Kane to their ranks this summer, says ex-Tottenham captain Michael Dawson.

Manchester City cruised to the 2020-21 Premier League title, winning the league by an enormous 12-point margin.

The Sky Blues, who also made club history last season by making it to their first Champions League final, were in intimidating form as they went on a remarkable 21-game winning streak as well as an incredible 28-match unbeaten run.

Man City achieved all those feats without playing with an actual striker for the majority of last season. Now, they are heavily linked with the signing of one of the world’s best strikers in Kane, who can be expected to significantly elevate their standards should he move to the Etihad.

Dawson told talkSPORT: “If Man City sign Harry Kane, you’ll think, ‘how can any team get near them?’

“He’s a goalscorer and I love him and I hope he stays, but with those kind of figures, it looks like he might leave.”

“I said it would be a £150m-plus and it looks like it’s going to be that. It could only be one or two clubs who could afford him.

“Manchester City seem like they’re going to be the team [to sign Kane]. They have a bottomless pit [of funds] and if they want a player they tend to get them because money talks.”
