Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo has grown frustrated with Arthur Melo and Paulo Dybala following the duo’s underwhelming display against Ferencvaros.

Juventus survived a scary Champions League night at the Allianz Stadium as Alvaro Morata‘s header in the stoppage time sealed the three points against Ferencvaros.

Reigning Serie A holders were completely out of sorts against the Hungarian visitors on Tuesday night. Indeed, Andrea Pirlo’s men had to come from behind to beat the competition debutants on home soil.

Yet, a hard-fought triumph propelled the Turin heavyweights to the round of 16 with two games to spare. However, Pirlo was seemingly unhappy with what he had witnessed during the 90 minutes.

The Italian manager has not only refused to hide his frustration, but he has singled out two names he unleashed his wrath on.

Arthur Melo, who joined Juve for £75million from Barcelona in the summer, was the first player Pirlo took a swing at in the post-match conference.

“He [Arthur] got a bit pig-headed today keeping hold of the ball and trying to find more direct through balls when he should’ve spread it wide and tried to spread the Ferencvaros defense,” he said, as relayed by the Daily Mail.

“He should’ve opened up the game more to create one-on-one situations. If the ball moved too slowly, it allowed them to get back into position.”

It was the Brazilian’s fourth consecutive start in all competitions following a slow start to the season.

Next to feel Pirlo’s rage was Paulo Dybala, who registered only his fourth competitive start this term.

“Dybala didn’t do that well, but as I said, he was injured and had to take antibiotics for weeks, so it’s natural he needs time to get back into shape,” he continued.

“He does need to go beyond his limits in training to rediscover his form.”
