The battle for the Spanish league crown was a tight one last time out, with Atletico Madrid sealing it on the final matchday.
Gerard Pique has called on FC Barcelona to “pick up a good rhythm from the start and pull clear” in the 2021-22 La Liga title race.
Barcelona endured a poor start to the 2020-21 league campaign but managed to pick up momentum as the campaign progressed.
They were well in contention to win the La Liga title until the final week, only to become a victim of their own inconsistency in the latter stages and end up finishing third in the final standings.
Ronald Koeman’s side, though, have significantly strengthened their squad this summer and will be determined to mount a serious title challenge in the coming season.
“I’m going into this season with the same enthusiasm as my first,” Pique said, as Marca reports.
“We must try to start well. Generally, when we win league titles, it’s because we pick up a good rhythm from the start and pull clear, or we build up a lead and maintain it.
“We’ll try to do the same and hope that Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid don’t do what they did last year.”
