Come the weekend, the Catalan giants will have the chance to leapfrog their bitter rivals in the league table.

Gerard Pique insists “there are no favourites in a Clasico” ahead of FC Barcelona’s encounter with Real Madrid on Sunday.

Barcelona have been rather unconvincing so far this season. Ronald Koeman’s men have won only four of their first five La Liga games and only one of their opening three Champions League matches.

Their plight does not look very objectionable, though, when looking at the league table. Only two points separate Barca and Real Madrid, and they can overtake their bitter rivals by coming out on top in their upcoming meeting.

The Catalan giants go into the spectacular contest at Camp Nou on the back of two successive wins, and they will be determined to make it three victories on the bounce.

“If they want to be favourites, we’ll give them that label, no problem,” Pique said, (via Marca).

“But there are no favourites in a Clasico and that’s been shown historically.

“I think we both come into it well, we’ve got through our moments of crisis and we’re up there in La Liga and recovering in the Champions League.”
