AC Milan are about to ‘run into some difficult matches’ as the Serie A season gradually gets more intense, warns Stefano Pioli.
AC Milan secured a quite convincing victory in their most recent league outing as they beat Spezia 3-0.
Rafael Leao scored on either side of Theo Hernandez’s stellar solo strike to help his side not feel the absence of talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently spending time in isolation after contracting COVID-19.
Sunday’s victory saw the Rossoneri go level on points with Atalanta, who are ranked at the top of the table due to a better goal difference.
Stefano Pioli’s side are maintaining a perfect record in the 2020/21 Serie A campaign so far, having won each of their three league fixtures without conceding any goals.
Pioli, while glad about his team’s position and how they have been performing as of late, suggests the real test for them is yet to come.
“We are a team now, we have certain characteristics and specific identity,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia after the full-time whistle at San Siro on Sunday.
“We will soon run into some difficult matches, but we get there with the right enthusiasm.
“I like this team, this club, we work well together and I know full well the problems we will encounter going forward, because there are seven very strong sides in Serie A and only the top four will end the season happy.”
