AC Milan must aspire to finish in a better position in the Serie A table this season than the previous one, suggests Stefano Pioli.
AC Milan ended the 2019/20 season on a high note, earning a Europa League qualification opportunity which was powered by their 12-match unbeaten streak.
The Rossoneri managed to pick up from right where they left as they started the new season with a 2-0 win against Shamrock Rovers in the second qualifying round of the Europa League.
Stefano Pioli’s men now prepare to kickstart the new Italian top-flight campaign as they are set to face Bologna.
If history is anything to go by, they will tread lightly on Monday night, having suffered defeat in each of their last two opening Serie A matchdays.
“I don’t know, it’s difficult to answer these questions,” Pioli replied when asked whether his side could be viewed as Scudetto contenders,” according to Football Italia.
“In the last two years, Milan have lost the first match, we must change this trend.
“Having pressure is a privilege, it means you have reached certain levels, our goal is to improve our season. We must be ambitious, we are Milan, we must continue to grow. We are a very young team with ample room for improvement.”
