The Premier League side are reportedly negotiating to keep Coutinho at Villa Park.

Having failed to integrate into Xavi Hernandez’s plans, Philippe Coutinho moved to Aston Villa on a loan deal in January. The former Liverpool star has made a surprisingly brilliant start to his spell at Villa Park.

The Brazil international has scored four goals and provided three assists in his ten appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side. With his current form, Coutinho will most likely get a Brazil call-up for this summer’s World Cup, something that we were not so sure of prior to his Premier League return.

According to 90min, Aston Villa have already started negotiations with Barcelona over making Coutinho’s move permanent.

The 29-year-old has an option in his loan contract that enables Villa to sign him for £34m at the end of the season. Villa are reportedly willing to pay Coutinho’s transfer fee. However, they will enter talks with the player’s representatives over personal terms.

With several other clubs showing interest in Coutinho’s future, Villa are keen to finalize the Brazillian’s stay as soon as possible. If they fail, Arsenal will get a chance to pursue the experienced star’s signature next summer.
