Following Manchester City’s shock defeat to Lyon, some fans are already calling for Pep Guardiola to be given his marching orders.

For a club like Manchester City, domestic titles might not be deemed ‘good enough’. Guardiola will know that by now.

Many times than once, the Spanish manager has claimed he would not be judged by his European success with City or lack of it thereofe.

But many seem to disagree. For a club that splash large amounts on signings every summer, many feel Guardiola should have at least won the Champions League with City.

Just last week, Ferdinand claimed the ex-Barca boss can’t be classed a success in England until he wins the elite of the European competition.

And just mere hours after the Citizens’ disappointing loss to Lyon, ‘PepOut’ was among the top trending movements on Twitter in the UK. A good number of City fans are calling for Guardiola to be sacked.

We take a look at some of the best reactions making the rounds.

Guardiola is all but a villian in the space of 24 hours.

The loss means City and Guardiola have only the League Cup triumph in February as their only silverware this season. Maurizio Sarri got sacked by Juventus after a loss in the Champions League despite his Serie A triumph.

Is the same fate on the cards for Pep? We’ll see what the forces at the Etihad decide.
