Another explosive derby showdown between two bitter rivals awaits as Pep Guardiola’s side lock horns with Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United.

Pep Guardiola accepts that Manchester City won’t have it easy against Cristiano Ronaldo, who he rates as ‘one of the best players in history’.

The 36-year-old has been a revelation since his Old Trafford comeback. In only 11 games across all competitions, he has scored nine goals and again supplied the goods in a 2-2 Champions League draw at Atalanta.

“We saw it last season. They have one of the best players in history, a guy who can be a scoring machine,” said Guardiola in a press conference.

The Catalan was speaking after Man City’s 4-1 Champions League win over Club Brugge on Wednesday.

The Citizens head to Old Trafford for the first Manchester derby of the season without the suspended Aymeric Laporte, while Liam Delap has an ankle injury and Ferran Torres is ruled out.

Right-back Kyle Walker is a doubt after suffering a knock on his foot against Brugge midweek.

Guardiola will share more team updates later on Friday in a pre-match conference.
