The Citizens boss has canceled all his media commitments as he awaits the results of another PCR test.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has returned an inconclusive coronavirus test.

As a result, Guardiola won’t partake in any of his planned media activities on Friday. The 50-year-old is currently awaiting the results of a PCR test. The outcome will determine whether he travels with his squad to St. James Park for a Premier League clash with Newcastle on Sunday.

As things stand, that match remains scheduled to go ahead.

What happened?

Guardiola’s inconclusive COVID-19 test came following his return from Barcelona.

The former Blaugrana boss attended Sergio Aguero’s retirement press conference at Camp Nou on Wednesday, alongside City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain and a member of his coaching staff.

He returned to Manchester on Thursday, but now awaits a PCR test to understand whether he is indeed infected with COVID-19.

If the PCR test returns positive, Guardiola will have to isolate for 10 days as per UK Government regulations. Therefore, he will miss Sunday’s trip to Newcastle and the Boxing Day visit of Leicester.

But if the tests returns negative, he should be all clear to take charge of the Premier League leaders.
