Manchester United and Chelsea are already a long way off Manchester City in the Premier League this season.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expects Manchester United and Chelsea to recover from their less-than-ideal starts to the season.

Both traditional powerhouses have found themselves in the lower half of the Premier League table. United, currently languishing in 13th place, have endured three losses in five matches. This leaves them with a tally of six points, one point better than Chelsea, who sit in 14th position.

In stark contrast, Manchester City have won all five of their opening matches and lead the Premier League with a perfect 15 points.

“Well, they didn’t start like I think they expected, like Chelsea, but always Man United, Chelsea, sooner or later, they take the rhythm,” Guardiola said during a press conference.

“But it is important for us, after winning the treble, [winning] five from five is really, really good.”

On Tuesday, Manchester City will take on Red Star Belgrade. It’s their first Champions League fixture since winning the tournament last season. They now hope to get off to a winning start in Group G.

As for Manchester United, they will play a day later in Germany. The Red Devils will take on Bayern Munich for an epic showdown in Group A.
