The Citizens reclaimed the top of the Premier League title after leapfrogging Mikel Arteta’s side.

Pep Guardiola has urged Manchester City to build on their momentum after beating Arsenal in a potential title-decider.

The Citizens faced Arsenal in a crucial Premier League clash on Wednesday. Goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland were enough for Guardiola’s men to reach the top of the Premier League table with a 3-1 win.

After a period of struggling for consistency earlier this month, City seems to have returned back on track. But Guardiola says his side’s most recent victory will be meaningless if they can’t continue their run.

“Arsenal have one game in hand, nothing has changed much,” he said. “We’re just thinking about Nottingham Forest [on Saturday].

“Momentum is when you win ten games in a row. We haven’t done that this season. Three games ago, we lost at Tottenham.

“Momentum is tomorrow at three [o’clock], we have to be ready to play against a team who has lost just one in six, a big crowd, a respected manager.”

City will face Nottingham Forest in their next league game on Saturday. The hosts come into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat against Fulham.

Guardiola added: “When [Steve Cooper] took over Nottingham, they were in a bad position, but now they have been promoted and are doing really well.”
