The three-time World Cup winner was admitted to hospital earlier this week.
Pele has reassured his many well-wishers that his recent trip to the hospital was nothing more than a ‘monthly visit’.
In September 2021, Pele underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his colon. The 82-year-old has been in and out of the hospital since then while accepting medical care at his home in Brazil.
Concerns over Pele’s health, however, arose on Wednesday when ESPN Brasil reported the former Santos forward was admitted to the Hospital Albert Einstein in Sao Paulo with ‘general swelling’. His daughter, Kely Nascimento, clarified the report on Instagram, stating: “There is no emergency or new dire prediction. He is in the hospital regulating medication.”

Pele thanks his well-wishers
Now Pele has taken to Instagram to thank his followers for their kind messages and to assure them it was just a routine hospital visit.
“Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit,” he wrote. “It’s always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute and to everyone who sends me good vibes.”
Among Pele’s well-wishers were the Brazilian men’s national team and Qatar, the host nation of the 2022 World Cup, which put a picture of the Brazilian legend on a building, saying: “Get well soon”.
Brazil return to action on Friday for one last Group G match against Cameroon at the Lusail Stadium.
