Even though we already spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo breaking Pele’s goal-record, the Portuguese forward revealed the reason behind his silence. As one of the most important players in football history, it was kind of strange not getting a single reaction from him. We can now realize that he didn’t believe the record was effective. At least not until last Sunday, when Cristiano scored a perfect hat-trick against Cagliari.
His touching message to Pele proves Ronaldo has the utmost respect for legendary players such as himself. We hadn’t seen a response from Pele on social media but he finally wrote some words of encouragement directed at Cristiano Ronaldo. Records are meant to be broken and Pele knew his numbers would get surpassed by a new generation. In his words, all we saw was admiration for an incredible talent such as Cristiano Ronaldo.
