After the news broke, the legendary footballer spoke to his fan base to give them full details about what exactly happened. As it turns out, he had a small tumor on his colon that a great doctor needed to remove. Chipper as he always tends to be, Pele decided to tell the world about his issue without hesitation.
For now, that tumor has been removed but it’s still pending further examination from the biopsy. Hopefully, this health scare won’t be anything too serious for the legendary Pele. After the news leaked, Pele knew he needed to address the reason he remained at a hospital for the last six days. He decided to write a heartfelt Instagram message where he revealed the news: “My friends, thank you very much for the kind messages. I thank God for feeling very well and for allowing Dr. Fábio and Dr. Miguel to take care of my health.
“Last Saturday I underwent surgery to remove a suspicious lesion in the right colon. The tumor was identified during the tests I mentioned last week. Fortunately, I’m used to celebrating great victories alongside you. I will face this match with a smile on my face, a lot of optimism and joy for living surrounded by the love of my family and friends.”
