At the age of 33, Pedro Rodriguez still has enough in the tank to be a part of AS Roma’s new Serie A project.
Pedro Rodriguez symbolized trophies. He filled his bags at Barcelona and then enjoyed success with Chelsea. He now wants to repeat the feat with AS Roma.
The Tenerife native has signed a three-year contract after running down his contract at the Stamford Bridge. Pedro still has a smile about him and is eager to impress in the Eternal City.
After passing his medical in Rome, Pedro sat down with the club’s media team and reflected on his arrival. The Spain international was impressed with the rebuilding project at Stadio Olimpico and bought into Paulo Fonseca’s plans.
“Because it is a team building up. It is a team that is growing, in a few years it can grow up a lot. For this reason I came here,” Pedro told AS Roma’s official website.
“I also spoke with Paulo [Fonseca], he’s a good coach. He spoke with me, [he explained that] it’s a good moment for me to come here and play with new teammates and chase something special. I repeat that it is difficult, but it is not impossible. There are so many good players here and that’s another reason I came here.”
Pedro had been linked with a move to Rome since the start of July. However, the deal was put on a back burner due to AS Roma’s takeover by the Friedkin Group.
