The 18-year-old Barca sensation has suffered another relapse from his thigh injury and is set for an extended spell out.

Barcelona midfielder Pedri is reportedly set for another month on the sidelines after an injury relapse. He may not be available for selection again until 2022.

The 18-year-old, who has been an ever-present figure for club and country in 2021, has struggled to recover from a left thigh problem since the 3-0 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich on September 14.

The cumulative fatigue sustained over the past year, along with an ill-advised rushed return to face Benfica in Europe last month, has caused Pedri to spend most of the winter on the treatment table.

According to Esport3, the Spain international will now be out for another month. He felt discomfort in his thigh soon after returning to training and underwent further scans. The tests showed his injury persists, forcing him to stay sidelined. It’s understood he may not be available for Barcelona again until the new year.

Pedri injury: Which games could he miss?

When could he return?

The winter break in Spain begins for Barcelona after a trip to Sevilla on December 21. Xavi’s men return to action on January 2 away to Mallorca, which is when Pedri could come back.

For now, though, Barca must make do without the midfielder for Xavi’s debut as head coach on Saturday against Espanyol. For match details of the Catalan derby, including betting tips, check out the preview here.
