The Bayern star has emerged as a transfer target for Barcelona ahead of the next summer.
Benjamin Pavard’s agent has hinted at his client’s possible contract extension at Bayern Munich despite interest from Barcelona.
The Catalans have maintained interest in the French defender, whose contract will expire next summer. Prior to the current season, widespread reports claimed Pavard would leave Allianz Arena as a free agent in June.
However, Julian Nagelsmann’s decision to move the Frenchman into the heart of Bayern’s backline has seemingly changed the situation.
Speaking with Tutto Mercato, Joseph Mohan discussed Pavard’s future at Bayern.
“A lot has changed since Nagelsmann moved him from right-back to his original position at centre-back. In his position, he has rediscovered serenity and is happy,” Pavard’s agent said.
Lucas Hernandez’s injury has provided a chance for Pavard to play as a centre-back at Bayern.
The World Cup winner has found his best form in Nagelsmann’s back-three system, keeping Joao Cancelo out of Bayern’s starting lineup.
Asked whether Pavard will sign a contract renewal at Bayern, Mohan said: “In football anything can happen, as I always say, you never know. But what’s clear is now, that Benjamin is playing in the position where he belongs, things are changing for him too.
“I can say that after the two important matches in the Champions League, we’ll meet and talk about it.
But the relationship with coach Nagelsmann is excellent. Benjamin himself has confirmed it.”
