Dr. Erkut Sogut has called for clearance of air regarding the freezing out of his client from the Arsenal squad by Mikel Arteta.
On naming his 25-man squad for the Europa League group stages earlier this month, Mikel Arteta chose not to include Mesut Ozil.
The German playmaker will also be unable to feature in the Premier League until February as he subsequently also dropped from his side’s 25-man Premier League squad.
On Wednesday, he took to social media to lament about his manager’s decisions suggesting that he is not being rewarded for his loyalty to the club.
In response, Areta accepted full responsibility while implying that his decision to deprive Ozil of playing time is not due to his off-field issues.
The Gunners’ highest earner, taking home a whopping £350,000 every week, is yet to play a single minute ever since football resumed after the coronavirus-enforced hiatus.
It has been suggested that the former Real Madrid man has already played his last match in an Arsenal shirt, despite his contract running until 2021.
“Arsenal fans deserve an honest explanation, not [Arteta] saying ‘I failed Ozil.’ You didn’t fail Ozil: you failed to be fair, honest, and transparent and treat someone with respect who has a contract and was loyal all the time,” the player’s agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut, told ESPN.
“Every single person outside knows he hasn’t treated him fairly. He didn’t give him a chance to show himself this season.
“If he is still under contract, the player should have the option to stay and fight for his place. Mesut hasn’t been given that.”
