Victor Osimhen was reportedly close to signing for Manchester United but called off the transfer out of respect for Odion Ighalo.

Before Napoli came in and swooped him for €70 million. The Nigerian Prince has the whole of Partenopei behind him and Gennaro Gattuso changing his system to his strengths.

Rather than playing at the San Paolo, Osimhen would have been plying his trade at the Old Trafford. Manchester United wanted him to join their ranks and enquired about his services.

However, the young forward reject the Red Devils’ advances. He told them he would not be considering a move to become a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side until or unless Odion Ighalo is there.

Osimhen’s brother, Andrew, shared the details of there conversations and accepted Ighalo was the reason he did not join.

“It is very true that Manchester United wanted Victor but he told me something like he had too much respect for Odion Ighalo to be competing for shirts with his senior colleague,” Football365  quoted Andrew..

“My brother holds Ighalo in high esteem and he just didn’t see himself going to Old Trafford to battle for a striking role with the highest goalscorer at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.”
