The Napoli striker’s agent released a statement condemning the club’s actions and threatening legal action.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has issued a stern warning of potential legal action against the Serie A club.
The threat comes in response to a video posted on Napoli’s official TikTok account. The video, which was subsequently deleted, mocked the Nigeria international.
Taking to the social media platform ‘X‘, Calenda expressed his outrage. He said the video was harmful to Osimhen’s reputation and added that he and the player “reserve the right to take legal action”.
“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable,” he posted.
“A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted. A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news. We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”
The incident came on the heels of Osimhen’s penalty miss in Napoli’s recent 0-0 draw against Bologna. The striker later appeared to protest his substitution in the game to Rudi Garcia, although the manager played down the scene.
As of now, Napoli have not responded to the incident, leaving the matter in a state of uncertainty.
Last season’s Serie A champions have endured a difficult start to the current campaign. They sit in seventh place in the standings, having won just two of their five games (D2 L1), and trail leaders Inter Milan by seven points.
Napoli will next face Udinese at home on Wednesday.
