The Catalans secure the top of the table with an impressive away win.
Barcelona defeated Osasuna 2-1 in their La Liga game on Tuesday. A brilliant second-half comeback saw Xavi Hernandez’s side bag the three points at El Sadar.
Raphinha with a winner!
Osasuna stunned their opponents with an early opener through David Garcia in the sixth minute.
Barcelona immediately started their efforts to come back into the game. But then came the next shock for Xavi’s men.
The referee sent Robert Lewandowski off after giving him a second yellow card in the 31st minute. After the half-time whistle, Gerard Pique protested the decision so hard that the referee had to show him a red card, too, although he was a substitute.
Barcelona, however, started the second period on a completely different note.
Only three minutes into the next half, Pedri equalized the game for the Catalans. Following a blocked shot from Jordi Alba, the young midfielder jumped in to convert the rebound with a smart finish.
Osasuna kept their attacking edge, while their numerical advantage made Barca’s forward pushes riskier. But the Catalans eventually managed to snatch the match-winner through Raphinha.
Following a perfect through-ball from Frenkie de Jong, the Brazil international sent a cheap header past Osasuna’s keeper to make it 2-1 in the 85th minute.
Osasuna made a few more attempts to escape the defeat, but Barca managed to end their pre-World Cup campaign with a crucial win.
