One of the footballing world’s greatest stars believes that Cristiano Ronaldo will keep on scoring goals for his club and country.
Age is just a number for the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo who is 35 years old and still going strong. And his former national teammate Luis Figo believes that the Juventus icon will continue scoring goals at his best standards. Unless of course hit by a major injury problem.
There is no stopping Ronnie.
The five-time Ballon d’Or achiever has the backing of good luck during his entire professional career. It is known by all how much effort Ronaldo puts in to keep his body in shape and to avoid any treatment period. And the goalscoring machine has been breaking records throughout his remarkable walk of life. No one would believe that Cristiano is actually entering his waning period of playing football.
Moreover, many footballing greats have put forward a theory that CR7 will could potentially play even after his 40th birthday. And now, Figo admits that Ronaldo can continue to dominate in Serie A if injuries do not fall in his path. The former Portuguese star told Marca: “I’m not surprised by his form because Cristiano has always been a great professional.
“If injuries are kind to him, he’ll keep scoring goals because it’s a gift he has and, if the physical side allows him – age has an influence in terms of recovery and speed, sure – but if that and his hunger to be decisive and score goals continues, he’ll [score] many more.
“I think that in Italy, and I say this from experience. They have a way of thinking in relation to footballers’ ages that’s not like Spain. Here, you get to 30 or 31 and, after one bad game, they say you’re finished. In Italy, they judge you solely on the form that you’re in, not by your birth date.”
Ronaldo will face France in Portugal’s Nations League encounter against France on Saturday evening.
