The former Manchester United manager is impressed by Harry Maguire’s reaction after coming under criticism for his poor form.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on Harry Maguire for his impressive comeback to Manchester United’s starting lineup.

Following a disappointing 2022-23 campaign, Maguire was stripped of United’s captaincy in the summer. The England international came close to joining West Ham but ended up staying at Old Trafford, where he had already lost his place in Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup.

In recent weeks, United’s injury problems have provided a chance for Maguire to make his return into Ten Hag’s plans with a string of solid displays.

“I think he has dealt with it in a fantastic way,” Solskjaer told Nettavisen“It has not been easy. I have kept in touch with him and I have nothing but praise for the guy.”

The Man United legend added: “I guess he has gradually learned who to listen to. I am very happy that Harry in particular shows what kind of player he is, but not least what kind of type and person he is. That’s why I made him captain. We in Norway call it ‘hell wood’.”

United will return to action with a match against Everton on Sunday. The Red Devils will then take on Galatasaray in a Champions League clash three days later.
