It’s official, one of Wolves’ most important star strikers has decided to pan a new contract extension until the summer of 2024.
Wolves is one of the most underrated clubs in English football due to their star striker who brings them up to the highest level. They actually have two top strikers and one of them just signed a contract extension until the summer of 2024. We are talking about Mexican marksman, Raul Jimenez.
The former Benfica player came to Wolverhampton Wanderers right after the club made the promotion to the highest level. Since then, he has become a fan favorite and he was even voted as the Player of the Season by the fans. Jimenez has scored 46 goals in 103 matches so far. But his influence in important matches is what keeps him as one of the best.
There is no sane person in England who won’t agree that Jimenez is arguably amongst the best players in the country right now. With that said, Wolves decided to offer him a new contract that the player gladly accepted.
There were other offers for Jimenez.
Raul made this decision knowing he had other offers to play at bigger clubs. However, the Mexican striker made the decision to stay and make history with Wolves. Instead of going to a bigger club to fight for a spot in the starting eleven, he took the smart path today.
Raul spoke to the club’s website right after making his extension official: “I am delighted to be here and to be at this great club. Since I was a little boy, I just wanted to play, I wanted to enjoy it, live it, and that’s why I am here for.
“They give me all the confidence and the opportunity to be an important guy at the front, and that’s what I was looking for when I arrived into Europe, and I’m very happy to continue at this club.
“It didn’t take much persuading! It was easy for me to say yes because since the beginning, this is what I was looking for.
“The last two seasons we have given very good performances, so I knew this club has something special and I’m part of a big family here.
“I think Wolves are getting the best out of me, and I’m giving Wolves my best football, but they are giving the best to me too.”
