After days of negotiations, Jose Mourinho finally landed Vinicius Carlos as the striker he was looking for Tottenham Hotspur.

Carlos Vinicius is the striker that Tottenham Hotspur had been looking for this summer. The Brazilian forward is coming from a tremendous season with Benfica. He is exactly the type of player Jose Mourinho loves for his squads. The Spurs announced his transfer a few minutes ago on their official website. Carlos Vinicius comes to Spurs on a one-season loan for €3 million, with a buying option of €38 million when the loan is complete.

Mourinho wanted this striker to arrive in case Harry Kane made the decision to leave Tottenham in the near future. However, this player’s arrival proves that Jose finally convinced Daniel Levy that he needed to spend some money in order to fight for trophies. This Tottenham side finally has a serious project the fans can feel proud of.

Carlos Vinicius’ background.

Tottenham Hotspur released an official statement on their website about the striker: “Born in Jesus das Selvas, Maranhao, Brazil, Carlos spent his youth days at Goias, Santos, Desportivo Brasil and Palmeiras. He moved to Caldense, where he made his senior debut in March, 2017, and then to Gremio Anapolis before switching from Brazil to Portugal and exploding onto the scene at LigaPro side Real Sporte Club.

“Carlos scored 20 goals and claimed five assists in 33 appearances for Real in 2017/18, prompting a move to Italy and Napoli in January, 2018. Loan spells followed at Rio Ave back in Portugal’s top flight and Monaco in Ligue 1 before his move to Benfica in July, 2019. As well as taking top goalscoring honours in 2019/20, Carlos appeared five times in the Champions League, scoring in a 2-2 draw at RB Leipzig, and helped the Eagles lift the Portuguese Super Cup.”
