The Spurs have added a new midfielder to their ranks ahead of the next season.
Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton.
The Mali international had attracted interest from several clubs in recent seasons, with Arsenal being among his suitors. However, he has now joined the Spurs ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
Brighton manager Graham Potter said: “The transfer is a very good one for the club and player.
“Yves has shown his undoubted ability and been an important player during his time with us.
“Now he has a new challenge with Tottenham, including the opportunity to play Champions League football, and everyone at the club wishes him well.”
According to the Athletic, Tottenham will pay a fee of around £25 million for Bissouma. The Mali star has signed a four-year deal at the North London side, ending his successful spell at Brighton.
Bissouma becomes Spurs’ third transfer of the summer, following the arrivals of Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic.
In addition to Arsenal, Aston Villa had also shown interest in signing Bissouma. However, the prospect of playing in the Champions League has reportedly edged out Tottenham’s opponents in the race to sign the 25-year-old.
Bissouma will join Spurs’ pre-season camp as soon as he receives his work permit. The midfielder can make his Tottenham debut when Antonio Conte’s side take on Team K League on July 13.
