After guiding Chelsea to a historic Champions League triumph, Thomas Tuchel has been awarded a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him tied down at Chelsea until June 2024.

Despite only signing an initial 18-month deal in January, Tuchel’s impressive start convinced the club board to award him improved terms at Stamford Bridge.

Not only did the German guide Chelsea back to a Premier League top-four spot, but he also led the Blues to the FA Cup final and a memorable 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League final last month.

“I cannot imagine a better occasion for a contract renewal,” said Tuchel on the club’s website. “I am grateful for the experience and very happy to stay part of the Chelsea family.

“There is far more to come and we are looking forward to our next steps with ambition and much anticipation.”

Tuchel has already won 19 of his 30 games in charge, drawing six times and losing on only five occasions. He has been credited for Chelsea’s improved defense, with the Blues conceding only 16 goals under him so far.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund coach will hope to launch a challenge for the Premier League title next season on the back of his European success.
