French club Rennes confirmed the transfer of a new center-back from Serie A club, ahead of their first Champions League qualification.
Juventus confirmed the transfer of center-back Daniele Rugani to Rennes FC. The 26-year-old defender will move to the French side on a one-year loan offer.
The Italian heavily linked with Premier League clubs Newcastle United, Fulham, and West Ham. In addition, he received offers from Spanish clubs Sevilla and Valencia.
However, according to Sky Sports Italia, Rennes struck a deal with Juventus. Consequently, Rugani will play in France on a one-year loan deal for €1.5 million.
Although, the French side will not have any buy-back option. But, the club will pay full wages for the player.
Rugani joined the Serie B club Empoli in the 2012-13 season. Subsequently, the Italy international achieved Serie B Footballer of the Year award in 2014.
On the other hand, Rugani started his international career with Italy in 2010. The center-back played for the junior level only to make his senior debut in 2016.
Daniele made 79 appearances for Juventus scoring 6 goals in Serie A. The defender was loaned back to his old club Empoli in 2015 for two seasons.
The Ligue 1 side qualified for the first time in the UEFA Champions League in the club history. The French side will face giants Sevilla, Chelsea, and FC Krasnodar in the Group E.
It will be interesting to watch Rugani play at the back as Rennes battle a tough group.
