Sevilla have won the race for Real Madrid academy product Oscar Rodriguez, signing the 22-year-old on a five-year deal.
Europa League winners Sevilla have made their first addition for the 2020-21 campaign, signing Real Madrid youngster Oscar Rodriguez in a transfer deal worth €16 million.
The highly-rated midfielder, known for his impressive technical abilities, is expected to fill in Ever Banega’s shoes, who left for Al-Shabab FC after their Europa League triumph.
Rodriguez came through the ranks of Real Madrid’s academy, but has never made an official appearance for the Whites’ senior side.
He spent the last two years on loan at Leganes, netting nine goals in 30 La Liga appearances last season.
Madrid will retain 25 per cent of his ownership rights, with Sevilla obtaining the other 75%.
“I’m immensely happy and proud to have joined Sevilla,” Oscar Rodriguez wrote on Instagram. “Hope to keep improving as a player at the six-time Europa League winners.
“A big thank you to Leganes and their fans for two years of fight and heart. Also, thanks to Real Madrid for contributing to my development.
“I’ve got a lot of hunger to work really hard at this great club and enjoy the Sanchez-Pizjuan.
“Let’s go for it, Sevillistas!”
